BAKING
Pastry
- 1 cup flour
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup cold water
- If making leavened pastry: 1 teaspoon baking powder
Mix dry ingredients well. Cube butter or other fat, cut in with pastry cutter or equivalent method. Add water as needed until dough is wet but not sticky.
Lay out on a floured surface and roll to desired thickness. For most uses, pastry should not be overly thick.
