BREAD
Biscuit (standard)
- 1 cup, flour
- 1/2 tsp, salt
- 1 Tbsp, baking powder
- 3 Tbsp, cold butter
- ~3/4 cup, buttermilk
If using White Lilly or other self rising flour modify baking powder as needed.
Mix dry ingredients well. Add cubed cold or frozen butter. Use a pastry cutter to cut into small pieces and mix well with dry ingredients. Add buttermilk, a little at a time, and mix to desired consistency. Do not overmix, be very gentle.
Place on floured surface and roll out (again, being gentle). Fold a number of times and roll again to about an inch height. Cut with appropriate cutter, being careful not to twist.
Place in oven at 425 degrees F for 15 minutes or until slightly browned.
